CRICKET IS NOT A GAME,IT'S RELIGION.
Sports essentially forms a part of nation's culture. INDIA is a sporting nation. In every tits and bits of places, one can trace people playing diffetedi types of sports. In some parts like Bihar , one can find people hitting Gilly danda and in some other place like Haryana , one can notice Wrestling brinb at its peak.
Well, India 's national game is HOCKEY. But but but..............
Is it really Hockey? Pretty hard to digest the fact .
One such sport which governs India n eventually Indians is CRICKET . The fashion and fad which Indians have for cricket outshines and outsmarts all other sports including the National game Hockey. From a one year old toddler to a centenarian- all have got energy and enthusiasm for watching and playing cricket . In a country like us ,where more than half of the population is still YOUTH have got one mutual objective which drives everyone and that is CRICKET.
This mania of cricket has subsequently transpired and transformed our INDIAN CRICKET TEAM to emerge as one of the strongest and sturdiest in the world. Every field and arena has got one major lock which everyone ardently desires and aspires to break.
For instance- Every Engineering aspirant hankers to crack JEE and on the same ground, every medical aspirant yearns to clear NEET. And when it concord CRICKET, WORLD CUP is the dream and fantasy of every cricketer to win the WORLD CUP for the country. The epic victory of 1983 under the captaincy of Great Kapil Dev pumped and inspired almost whole India to pick up the willow and hit the stadiums. The central narrative was plainly and purely changed. 1983's world cup victory was not just a victory, it was a clear cut STATEMENT. India went as underdogs but energed as the WORLD CHAMPIONS. It was followed by the 1985 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. These two landsliding victories emphasized and ensured that Cricket was taken seriously in India .
Cricket in India has given many heroes.
Generation to Generation, players enethed, played , won and eventually went. But every generation has given one stand out and incredibly talented player. Strating from ThE LITTLE MASTER SUNIL GaVASKar to THE MASTER BLASTER SACHIN TENDULKAR and now THE MODERN MASTER VIRT KOHLI. Consistency of performances has been seen and is being seen in their DNA. It would be sheer unfair to take only these names as India has witnessed many match winners over the years . But the tournament which changed the whole history was the 2011 world cup. India reflected and recisoprted whole pressure of playing in home conditions and ultimately going on lifting the trophy was by far the most sweetest memory in every Indian cricket fan. The historic short by the captain MSD was just purely astonishing and astounding. Absolutely mind blowing and mind blogging.
Cekebtation which followed the victory of 2011 world cup was just unbelievable.
Hence ,
When it comes to INDIA
CRICKET IS NOT JUST A GAME, IT'S A RELIGION.
